Newburyport Celebrates Relaunch of Port Bikeshare Program

The City of Newburyport, in partnership with Newburyport Livable Streets and the Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, invites the public to a ceremonial relaunch of the Port Bikeshare program.

Originally introduced in November 2025, the program returns this spring with a formal kickoff event on Tuesday, April 14 at 4 p.m. at the Market Landing Park bike station.

The Port Bikeshare pilot program provides easy-to-rent bicycles at convenient locations along the city’s rail trail network. Five stations are currently available: near the MBTA commuter rail station, at Washington Street, at Market Landing Park, next to the American Yacht Club, and off High Street at March’s Hill.

The system features 23 pedal bicycles equipped with three gears, a basket, front light, bell, and an easy-to-use wheel lock. To support accessibility and inclusive recreation, the program also includes two recumbent trikes for individuals who cannot use a traditional bicycle. These were made possible through the Newburyport Commission on Disabilities.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend the relaunch and learn more about this exciting transportation and recreation option.
