As July comes to a close, the NCM Hub takes time to reflect on the growing importance of community media at America’s 250th birthday.
Community media channels are still used by communities all over the country to share public, educational and governmental (PEG) information.
Much like the Declaration of Independence, community access programming is deliberate and creative in its messaging.
Today, community media embodies and upholds those very same American democratic values that the founding fathers aspired to, including self-government, freedom of speech and equality.
By supporting and participating in community media programming, we situate ourselves in a long lineage of free American journalism and creative expression.
