through 28th for the following programs!

Tuesday, February 24th at 7pm: Matrix Planting for Home Gardeners (VIRTUAL).
Learn how to use high-density plantings that replicate natural ecosystems in
aesthetically pleasing designs, enhancing ecological functions while reducing
maintenance efforts. Virtual registration required.

Wednesday, February 25th at 7pm: Burglary at the Louvre — How Can Writers Top
This? (VIRTUAL).
In this presentation, our panel of authors will examine the public’s
fascination with the recent burglary of Napoleonic jewels at the Louvre and discuss how
they have used the same elements in their books. Virtual registration required.

Thursday, February 26th at 7pm: The People’s Painter – Jacob Lawrence and the
Black American Experience (VIRTUAL)
. This program explores how Jacob
Lawrence’s bold compositions and vibrant tempera colors transformed American art by
giving visual form to the African American experience with unprecedented power and
dignity. Virtual registration required.

Ongoing Programs Occurring Next Week:

Tuesday, February 24th at 8am: Yoga and Mindfulness (VIRTUAL). Improve your
physical and mental well-being by joining registered yoga teacher Ree Coleman for
yoga and mindfulness practice. Classes are held online, and no registration is
necessary. The Zoom link and meeting ID can be found on the library website’s events
calendar.

Tuesday, February 24th at 5pm: Just the Facts: Nonfiction Book Group (VIRTUAL).
Just the Facts Book Group meets virtually on the last Tuesday of the month. This group
selects and discusses nonfiction books. This month we will be discussing “The Secret
History of Food: Strange But True Stories About the Origins of Everything We Eat” by
Matt Siegel. Virtual registration required.

Thursday, February 26th at 5:15pm: Spanish Conversation Group (IN PERSON). All
levels are welcome! However, it may be best suited for those with a basic knowledge of
Spanish or above. Please note, this is not a class, but it can be a great way to practice
your Spanish conversational skills and connect with others who have an interest in the
language. The group is led by a Spanish-speaking librarian. Registration required.

Mondays & Thursdays from 2:30pm to 3:30pm: Drop-In Tech Time (IN PERSON).
Bring your simple technology questions for a drop-in session. We can help with the
basics for your phones, laptops, tablets, and e-readers, including accessing library
resources, adding Libby to a personal device, basic computer navigation, and general
internet instruction. Sessions can last up to 30 minutes and are run with available staff
on a first come, first served basis.

Fridays at 2pm: Movie Matinee (IN PERSON). Titles are posted on the library’s
website events calendar.

Drop-In Social Services Support (IN PERSON). The City’s licensed professional
social worker, Trish Boateng, offers regular drop-in hours at the Library for any
Newburyport resident who may need assistance. Get connected with assistance for
food, housing, transportation, health, childcare, or other necessities. Meetings are
offered on a first-come, first-served basis every Tuesday afternoon at the library, 1:30-
2:30pm.
