Newburyport Choral Society “Winter Fanfare!” concerts are SOLD OUT both Friday and Sunday December 12 & 14. That’s the good news. The bad news is that we will not be able to sell tickets at the door. Oh, how we wish the walls of the church were expandable to accommodate more people!

Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah is a magnum opus, famous for its lyricism and power. But his sister, Fanny was *also* an excellent composer, and they influenced and encouraged each other. Recently Fanny’s works, particularly the secular pieces we will feature in our concert, have been rediscovered, highlighting her genius.
The Newburyport Choral Society is a non-auditioned chorus of ~100 members whose mission is to perform outstanding choral music for the cultural enrichment and education of greater Newburyport, including:
– rich and varied choral concerts
– a Conducting Fellowship and separate scholarship to foster young musicians
– an auditioned group for experienced singers
– a refresher course for singers to improve their music literacy
– outreach events throughout the community
