“I Am Zelda” with Rita Parisi
Rita Parisi, founder of Waterfall Productions, will visit the show this week to discuss her original one-act play, “I Am Zelda” about the life of Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, which she will present on Saturday, December 27th at 7:30 PM at the Actors Studio at Crossroads Plaza, 1 Merrill Street #3, in Salisbury.
Rita describes her play as “an intimate, poignant portrait of a woman determined to reclaim her own narrative.” She will talk about what initially attracted her to dramatizing Fitzgerald’s life story, the misconceptions people have about her subject, what Parisi hopes people will understand better about her after seeing “I Am Zelda,” and what lessons or inspiration we can draw from her life story today.
Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald are often identified with the Roaring Twenties, an era romanticized by many as a time of glamour and excitement — think of flappers, the Charleston, bathtub gin… Parisi will talk about the reality of life at the time, including the good, the bad, and the misunderstood.
Offering the performance as a fundraiser for the Actors Studio, Parisi will also discuss why she supports the non-profit’s mission of providing a venue for original and independent theater on the North Shore.
