Monday, November 3rd at 7pm: History of the Flying Santa of the Lighthouses (VIRTUAL).
In this presentation, historian Jeremy D’Entremont will relate the colorful history of the Flying Santa from 1929 to the present day. Virtual registration required.
Thursday, November 6th at 10:30am: Art & World War II – Hitler’s Cultural Ambitions and Nazi Theft (VIRTUAL).
Learn more about Nazi exhibitions of so-called “degenerate art,” theft from European churches, museums and private collections, as well as the challenge of restoring works to their rightful heirs today. Virtual registration required.
Saturday, November 8th at 2:30pm: Powow River Poets Reading (IN-PERSON). Please join the Powow River Poets for their monthly poetry reading. The invited readers this month are Bill Coyle and Al Basile.

Tuesday, November 18th at 6:30pm: Travels Through the Heart and Soul of New England (IN PERSON). Journalist Ted Reinstein of “Chronicle” shares stories of the memorable people he’s met in his travels from his newest book, “Travels Through the Heart and

Wednesday, November 19th at 7pm: “Meet Me at Luke’s” with The Gilmore Book Club Blogger, Kristine Eckart (VIRTUAL). If you are a Gilmore Girls fan, we hope you can join us for this rapid paced Q&A with The Gilmore Girl Club Blogger, Kristine Eckart.

Monday, November 24th at 6pm: Back to Basics: An Intro to Smartphones and Tablets (IN PERSON).
This is an introductory class covering the basics of using the iPhone and iPad. You will be introduced to internal hardware, important areas within the devices, and common tools like the flashlight, alarm, and camera.

Monday, November 24th at 7pm: “The Gilded Age Christmas Cookbook” with Author Becky Libourel Diamond (VIRTUAL).
“The Gilded Age Christmas Cookbook” bridges the past and present, bringing back sugar plums and other confections not typically found in modern cookbooks, while revisiting some beloved favorites. Virtual registration required.
Tuesday, November 25th at 7pm: The Impact of 500 Years of Colonialism (VIRTUAL).
In this presentation, Anne Jennison examines how European colonization of North America impacted generations of Abenaki & Wabanaki people and highlights the ways in which they have acted as agents of their own change through education, self-advocacy, efforts
to revitalize their languages and traditional arts. Virtual registration required.

Wednesday, November 5th at 2pm: Next Chapter Book Group (IN PERSON at the Senior Center).
The Next Chapter Book Group invites you to join our monthly book discussion on the first Wednesday of the month. We will be meeting at the Senior Community Center. This month’s title is “With A Vengeance” by Riley Sager.

Thursday, November 20th at 3pm: Classics Book Group (IN PERSON). Join NPL’s Classics Book Group! This group meets in-person on the third Thursday of every month in the Director’s Room. This month’s title is “Kokoro” by Natsume Soseki.

Tuesday, November 25th at 5pm: Just the Facts: Nonfiction Book Group (VIRTUAL). Join us for NPL’s Just the Facts Book Group! This group selects and discusses nonfiction books. This month we will be discussing “Burn Book: A Tech Love Story” by Kara Swisher.

Once a month: Home Delivery Services! Are you unable to come to the library? Let the library come to you! Any Newburyport who is possession of a library card and meets one of the following conditions is eligible for this program: (1) A disability and/or
health issue which prevents an individual from visiting the Library, (2) Mobility issues which prevent an individual from visiting the Library, (3) Temporary physical limitations (or illness) which prevent an individual from visiting the Library for a minimum

Tuesdays at 8am: Yoga and Mindfulness (VIRTUAL). Improve your physical and mental well-being by joining Registered Yoga Teacher Ree Coleman for yoga and mindfulness practice. Classes will be held online for the rest of the winter. No registration is
necessary. The Zoom link and meeting ID can be found on the Library website’s events calendar.
2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:30 pm: NPL Arts & Crafts Social (IN PERSON).
All skill levels are welcome. Please bring in your own supplies and projects to work on. The Library will also provide coloring pages, color pencils, and origami. Suggested art hive projects include knitting and crocheting, collaging, small-scale watercolors
and/or drawings.
Thursdays (bi-weekly) at 5:15 pm: Spanish Conversation Group (IN PERSON).
All levels are welcome! However, it may be best suited for those who have a basic knowledge of Spanish or above. Please note, this is not a class, but it can be a great way to practice your Spanish conversational skills and connect with others who have an interest
in the language. The group is led by a Spanish-speaking librarian. Registration required.
Mondays & Thursdays from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm: Drop-In Tech Time (IN PERSON).
Bring your simple technology questions for a drop-in session. We can help with the basics for your phones, laptops, tablets, and e-readers, including accessing library resources, adding Libby to a personal device, basic computer navigation, and general internet
instruction. Sessions can last up to 30 minutes and will be run with available staff on a first come, first served basis. Contact info@newburyportpl.org or call us at 978-465-4428 x 2 with questions.
Fridays at 2pm: Movie Matinee (IN PERSON). Titles are posted on the Library website’s events calendar.
Drop-In Social Services Support (IN PERSON). The City’s licensed professional social worker Trish Boateng offers regular drop-in hours at the Library for any Newburyport resident who may need assistance. Get connected with assistance for food, housing,
transportation, health, childcare, or other necessities. Meetings are offered on a first-come, first-served basis every Tuesday afternoon at the library, 1:30-2:30 pm.
