This Week’s Morning Show Features:
Newburyport Gingerbread Festival

Since its founding in 2023 by Mary Dissette, the annual Newburyport Gingerbread Festival has become a holiday favorite. This week I’ll have the pleasure of speaking with Elizabeth Rankin and her son, Silas Flanagan, winners in the Family and Children’s category of the last two Newburyport Gingerbread Festivals. Also visiting will be Festival Judge and Newburyport School Superintendent Sean Gallagher.

A free contest and exhibition of artistic gingerbread creations by people of all ages, the upcoming 3rd annual Festival will be held December 12-14th at Central Congregational Church on Titcomb Street.

I’ll talk with Elizabeth and Silas about how they put together their award-winning constructions of the Pink House and the Custom House Maritime Museum. They’ll also provide tips and suggestions for anyone considering entering the contest this year, for which the deadline to register is December 7th.

Sean will discuss the challenges and rewards of serving as a judge, and what he sees as the educational value of gingerbread construction projects.
For anyone interested in learning more about the Festival, which is also a fundraiser for Nourishing the North Shore, visit www.portgingerbreadfestival.org.
