Please join us at the Newburyport Public Library during June for the following programs!
Tuesday, June 3rd at 6pm: All About Mushrooms (IN PERSON). Join Mass Audubon Field Naturalist Jonathan Kranz as he reveals what mushrooms are and how they live, reviews the most common and most spectacular mushrooms in New England, and teaches the basics
of safe mushroom foraging. No registration required.
Monday, June 9th at 7pm: FOL Spring Gratitude Event (IN PERSON). All 2025 FOL Members and past Book Sale Volunteers are invited to register.
Please join us in the Program Room anytime between 7:00 – 8:30 PM. Refreshments will be served. Door prizes will be drawn every 30 minutes, giving everyone a chance to win! Each attendee will also receive a gift as a token of our appreciation for your support.

Monday, June 9th at 7pm: The History of Measles & Measles Vaccination (VIRTUAL). Join Professor Elena Conis and MDPH Senior Epidemiology Advisor Hillary Johnson for a discussion about the history of measles and the development of its vaccine.

Tuesday, June 10th at 6:30pm: Teacup Flower Arrangements (IN PERSON). Join local florist Jennifer MacLaren of the Dew Collective to learn the art of flower arranging and take home your very own teacup flower arrangement. Registration required.
Thursday, June 12th at 10am: A History of Women’s Work: The Evolution of Women’s Working Lives (VIRTUAL). Author Janet Few discusses her new book “A History of Women’s Work: The Evolution of Women’s Working Lives”. This book delves into three main areas
of women’s work: household tasks, home industries, and paid employment outside the home.

Monday, June 16th at 6:30pm: Maker Monday – Nature Painting (IN PERSON). This month we will be creating unique wall art through Nature Painting. We will use natural materials like stone, wood, and preserved moss to create enchanting scenes that bring

Tuesday, June 24th at 7pm: Beachcombing for Signs of Life (VIRTUAL). Explore best practices when combing the beach in search of wildlife clues and leave with recommendations from Mass Audubon teacher naturalists on the best places to explore.

Saturday, June 28th at 1:30pm: Farm Animals on the Lawn! (IN PERSON). Join us on the library lawn for an afternoon with some very special guests! Stop by any time between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. to meet animals from Records & Burpee Traveling Children’s Zoo,
including alpacas. While you’re here, ask a librarian about how to participate in the Summer Reading Program!

The Next Chapter Book Group invites you to join our monthly book discussion on the first Wednesday of the month. We will be meeting at the Senior Community Center. This month’s title is

Thursday, June 5th at 4pm: Case Closed Book Group (VIRTUAL). Do you enjoy mystery, thriller and true crime novels? Come join the Case Closed Book Group on the first Thursday of the month! We read a variety of mystery, thriller and true crime books; fiction
and non-fiction! New readers are always welcome. We also do not discourage those who were unable to finish the current title from attending! This month’s title is “The Return of Ellie Black” by Emiko Jean.

Once a month: Home Delivery Services! Are you unable to come to the library? Let the library come to you! Any Newburyport who is possession of a library card and meets one of the following conditions is eligible for this program: (1) A disability and/or
health issue which prevents an individual from visiting the Library, (2) Mobility issues which prevent an individual from visiting the Library, (3) Temporary physical limitations (or illness) which prevent an individual from visiting the Library for a minimum

Tuesdays at 8am: Yoga and Mindfulness (VIRTUAL). Improve your physical and mental well-being by joining Registered Yoga Teacher Ree Coleman for yoga and mindfulness practice. Classes will be held online for the rest of the winter. No registration is
necessary. The Zoom link and meeting ID can be found on the Library website’s events calendar.
2nd Wednesday of the month at 5:30 pm: NPL Art Hive (IN PERSON). All skill levels are welcome. Please bring in your own supplies and projects to work on. The Library will also provide coloring pages, color pencils, and origami. Suggested art hive projects
include knitting and crocheting, collaging, small-scale watercolors and/or drawings.
Thursdays (bi-weekly) at 5:15 pm: Spanish Conversation Group (IN PERSON).
All levels are welcome! However, it may be best suited for those who have a basic knowledge of Spanish or above. Please note, this is not a class, but it can be a great way to practice your Spanish conversational skills and connect with others who have an interest
in the language. The group is led by a Spanish-speaking librarian. Registration required.
Mondays & Thursdays from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm: Drop-In Tech Time (IN PERSON).
Bring your simple technology questions for a drop-in session. We can help with the basics for your phones, laptops, tablets, and e-readers, including accessing library resources, adding Libby to a personal device, basic computer navigation, and general internet
instruction. Sessions can last up to 30 minutes and will be run with available staff on a first come, first served basis. Contact info@newburyportpl.org or call us at 978-465-4428 x 2 with questions.
Fridays at 2pm: Summer Movie Matinee (IN PERSON). Titles are posted on the Library website’s events calendar.
Drop-In Social Services Support (IN PERSON). The City’s licensed professional social worker Trish Boateng offers regular drop-in hours at the Library for any Newburyport resident who may need assistance. Get connected with assistance for food, housing,
transportation, health, child care, or other necessities. Meetings are offered on a first-come, first-served basis every Tuesday afternoon at the library, 1:30-2:30 pm.
Council on Aging Outreach Services Drop-In Hours (IN PERSON). Outreach Specialist from the Council on Aging, Ann Freeman, is available at the Library to residents interested in learning more about the outreach services provided by the Council on Aging.
She is available at the library biweekly on Thursdays from 10-11am. Please see the Events calendar for exact dates or call us at 978-465-4428 x2.
