Rani Eng Announces Candidacy for Newburyport City Council
Bringing Agile Leadership, Fiscal Stewardship, and Community Engagement to Local Government
Newburyport, MA — April 28,2025 — Rani Eng, a respected leader in the professional services sector and longtime advocate for community engagement, has officially announced her candidacy for Newburyport City Council.
With over 15 years of management experience scaling teams and improving operational efficiency, Eng brings a fresh yet highly skilled perspective to public service — one grounded in real-world leadership and a passion for building stronger, more inclusive communities.
“My life is full — raising a family, leading in my career, and staying active in my community — but I still felt deeply moved to step forward,” said Eng. “Because the truth is, we need more everyday people, more diverse voices, and more real-world experience at every level of government.”
Currently serving as Chief of Staff at a technology-enabled federal services firm, Eng oversees strategic growth initiatives, cross functional corporate operations, and innovation efforts involving AI integration to scale the company. Her career has been built on asking the right questions, making efficient, responsible decisions, and helping organizations succeed — skills she believes are essential in city government today.
Eng’s platform centers on three key pillars:
Smart Growth: Thoughtful planning that protects Newburyport’s unique character, ensures infrastructure resilience, and keeps our community welcoming and strong.
Fiscal Responsibility: Professional-grade financial oversight to make sure every tax dollar is spent wisely, transparently, and in ways that directly benefit residents.
Community First: Opening up government processes so it’s easier for every resident to engage, show up, and govern together.
As a mother, professional leader, and first-generation American, Eng understands the balancing act so many Newburyport residents live every day — and she sees public service as an extension of that commitment.
“When government is accessible and transparent, it empowers all of us,” Eng said. “When decision-making is thoughtful and fiscally responsible, it safeguards the services and quality of life we treasure.”
Value to the voter:
Experience you can trust: Over a decade of leadership managing multimillion-dollar budgets and scaling organizations.
A fresh voice: A candidate who reflects the diverse, forward-thinking future of Newburyport.
A community-first mindset: Policies rooted in empathy, access, and action — not bureaucracy.
Eng’s vision for Newburyport is simple yet profound: a city where families thrive, opportunities grow, and every voice matters.
“I’m not just running to serve you — I’m running to engage you,” Eng said. “Because when we show up and govern together, we build something stronger than any one project or election: we build a future we’re proud to pass on.”
