Please join us at the Newburyport Public Library during the week of April 14th to the 18th
for the following programs!

NPL Calendar

Monday, April 14th at 7pm: The Two Nerdy History Girls Ride Again! (VIRTUAL).
Authors Loretta Chase and Susan Holloway Scott are the originators of the infamous blog “Two Nerdy History Girls”. How do they find interesting tidbits of historical lore, which libraries of the world have they visited, and how do they avoid the inescapable
“rabbit hole”? Virtual registration required.

Tuesday, April 15th at 2pm: Armchair Travel to the Italian Riviera (VIRTUAL). The small towns of Genoa and the Cinque Terre each have a distinct character of sun, sea, food, wine, and hiking trails. Led by Jack Holmes, a travel photographer and owner
of “Images from Near and Far”. Virtual registration required.

Thursday, April 17th at 6pm: Getting Started in Genealogy (VIRTUAL). This program introduces the participants to the genealogical research process and the tools and techniques that support the research.

Thursday, April 17th at 7:30pm: Inclusive and Diverse Book Recs (VIRTUAL).
Looking for the best books with BIPOC/LGBTQ+/Neurodivergent/Disabled characters or by representative authors? Join bookstagrammer Leelynn Brady for 30 minutes of pure book recommendations.

Tuesday, April 15th at 3pm: Círculo de Lectores (VIRTUAL). Do you enjoy reading in Spanish? We invite you to join our adult Spanish language book group! This is best suited for those who feel comfortable reading and speaking in Spanish. This month’s
book is “El problema final” by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. Virtual registration required.

Wednesday, April 16th at 3pm: Case Closed Book Group (VIRTUAL). Do you enjoy mystery, thriller and true crime novels? Come join the Case Closed Book Group on the third Wednesday of the month! We read a variety of mystery, thriller and true crime books;
fiction and non-fiction! New readers are always welcome. We also do not discourage those who were unable to finish the current title from attending! This month’s title is
“All Good People Here” by Ashley Flowers. Virtual registration required.

Thursday, April 17th at 3 pm: Classics Book Group (IN-PERSON). Join NPL’s Classics Book Group! This group meets in-person on the third Thursday of every month in the Director’s Room. This month’s title is “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith.
Registration required.

Tuesdays at 8:00 am: Yoga and Mindfulness (VIRTUAL). Improve your physical and mental well-being by joining Registered Yoga Teacher Ree Coleman for yoga and mindfulness practice. No registration is necessary. The Zoom link and meeting ID can be found
on the library website.

Wednesdays at 2:30 pm: Movie Matinee (IN-PERSON). Titles are posted on the library website.

Drop-In Social Services Support (IN-PERSON). The City’s licensed professional social worker Trish Boateng offers regular drop-in hours at the Library for any Newburyport resident who may need assistance. Get connected with assistance for food, housing,transportation, health, child care, or other necessities. Meetings are offered on a first-come, first-served basis every Tuesday afternoon at the library, 1:30-2:30 pm.
