The Newburyport Cultural Council (NCC) is pleased to announce that $15,000 of special funding for community-oriented Arts, History, Environment and Science programs will be available to support our Newburyport Cultural District in the historic downtown area.

“We invite area organizations and individuals to apply for this funding, especially those encouraging engagement and collaboration with the Cultural District in Newburyport,” states Pat Cannon, Chair of the NCC. “We also seek to elevate organizations with a passion for sharing arts and cultural programs for our community.”

The Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) provides grant money to 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all cities and towns in the Commonwealth. This year the MCC will spend over $5.5 million in support of public projects.

Funding must be allocated in support of Cultural District activities and goals and at the direction of the Newburyport Cultural Council. In accordance with these requirements, funding expenditures will be unrestricted. We encourage projects or programs that institute a practice of community engagement and are in alignment with our Cultural District’s audience and mission. Funding must be spent or encumbered within the current fiscal year ending on June 30, 2025. Applications are due on April 15, 2025 and can be requested at CCouncil@newburyportma.gov. There is also a copy of the application (pdf) below.

Additionally, there is a grant opportunity for the production of a promotional film showcasing Newburyport’s cultural events and locations, and for a photographer to take photos of the Cultural District for a postcard project designed to drive cultural tourism.
