INVEST IN THE FEST: NEWBURYPORT LITERARY FESTIVAL
LAUNCHES 20 FOR 20 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN WITH GOAL OF $20K
NEWBURYPORT, Mass. – The Newburyport Literary Festival (NLF) will celebrate its 20 th year of
welcoming award-winning authors and presenting engaging panel discussions to thousands in
the city of Newburyport on April 25-27, 2025. Plans are underway for a special 2025 festival but
organizers note that fundraising to support the popular event has been challenging.
In order to raise $20,000, organizers are turning to the community for help with a “20 For 20”
GoFundMe campaign. Community members are being asked to donate $20 (or more) to the
festival and encourage 20 friends and family members to also donate $20 via the GoFundMe
link at https://www.gofundme.com/f/Newburyport-lit-fest-XX .
“While our corporate sponsors continue to be generous, there are simply fewer dollars
available to support important cultural events such as our beloved literary festival,” said Vicki
Hendrickson, founder and chair of the festival. “The result is a short-fall in donated funds which
will significantly impact the committee’s ability to deliver the 2025 festival.”
The festival is volunteer run and all book talks during the festival are free to the public. Funds
raised are for venues, author travel, promotion, and more.
“We are grateful for the community’s support as we mark our 20th anniversary celebrating
literature, readers, and writers,” Hendrickson said.
Donations can be made on Festival’s 20 for 20 page:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/Newburyport-lit-fest-XX . Donations can also be made by check
(no cash, please) to Newburyport Literary Association, Inc., P.O. Box 268, Newburyport, MA
01950.
The Newburyport Literary Festival (NLF) is made possible through the generosity of our founding
sponsors, the Newburyport Bank and the Institution for Savings. Additional support is provided
by the Massachusetts Local Cultural Councils in Newburyport, Newbury, West Newbury,
Georgetown and Merrimac, Bradford & Bigelow printers and The Daily News. The NLF,
organized by the Newburyport Literary Association, annually celebrates reading and the love of
books.
