“Queer Here” Call for Art by LGBTQ+ Artists
Collaboration between Newburyport Pride and The PEG Center for Art & Activism
Newburyport, MA, April 23, 2024 – In honor of Pride Month 2024, The PEG Center and Newburyport Pride are curating an art exhibition that will be on display at The PEG Center for Art & Activism at 3 Harris Street in Newburyport, MA. “QUEER HERE!” seeks LGTBQ+ artists to tell their stories through visual arts. People interested in participating need to submit artwork by email to paulaestey@thepegcenter.org by May 7 to be considered for the exhibition. The art will be on display from June 7-28, with a public art reception on Friday, June 14th from 7-9 p.m.
“We are thrilled to work with Newburyport Pride and provide a space for creative expression by local artists,” said Paula Estey, Executive Director of the PEG Center.
“Last year, we had a small show of LGTBQ+ artists at Newburyport Art,” said Tarah MacGregor, Enrichment Coordinator for Newburyport Recreation & Youth Services and NAGLY North. “This year promised to be bigger and bolder. The PEG Center will have this art on display throughout June for Pride Month.”
All mediums will be considered. Artwork must not be larger than 48” by 48”. Selected works must be ready to hang and be accompanied by an Artist Statement and Art Description, Contact Information, including email and phone number, and Retail Price.
The artists will get 100% of the commission of any sales but are encouraged to donate a portion to benefit the hosting nonprofit organizations.
