This Week’s “Morning Show” Features:
Literary Festival Honorees & NBPT Historians
Ghlee Woodworth and Dyke Hendrickson
Newburyport Literary Festival Honorees Ghlee Woodworth and Dyke Hendrickson will visit this week’s show. The two award-winning local historians will be honored at the Literary Festival’s Opening Ceremony at the Firehouse Center for the Arts on Friday, April 26th at 6 PM, along with the third honoree, Bethany Groff Dorau.
Now in its 19th year, the Festival will feature more than 50 authors and poets representing all genres, with live events on Saturday, April 27th and virtual events on April 28th. All events are free.
I’ll speak with Ghlee and Dyke about the importance of local history and what initially attracted them to their subjects.
I’ll also ask them to describe their own festival events. On Saturday at 3 p.m., Dyke will talk about his recently published eighth book, “Reclaiming the Merrimack: An Action Plan to Clean the River.”
On Saturday at Noon at City Hall, Ghlee will provide a visual tour of Newburyport’s Black History from the 1700s to the early 1900s. Creator of the 2-volume Clipper Heritage Trail, a series of self-guided tours of the city, Ghlee will also offer two tours of downtown Newburyport at 10 and 11 AM on Sunday.
