International Cultural Festival at Newburyport High School

Aileen Maconi, Instructional Leader for Visual and Performing Arts at Newburyport High School (NHS), and student Cady Seton of NHS’s Global Citizenship Program (GCP) visited the show this week to discuss the upcoming 2nd Annual International Cultural Festival to be held at the High School on Wednesday, March 6th from 6:30 – 8:30 PM.

Organized by GCP students and staff, the Festival aims to provide students, families, and the larger community with opportunities to learn about different cultures and traditions, local programs with global outreach, and world issues.

Aileen and Cady discussed highlights of Festival offerings, including live music by professional and student musicians representing styles ranging from the Amazigh Tribe of North Africa, to Scotland, and to American Dixieland and jazz.
Other highlights will include a Travel Photography exhibit with images by students, faculty, and staff; and a display on Food (In)Security, coordinated with local nonprofit Big Ideas/Small Solutions, which will feature a live video conference with a college student in Kenya.

The Festival is free, but adult attendees are asked for a $10 donation, which will be used to support Global Education Programs at NHS.
