This Week’s “Morning Show” Features:

Anti-racism Series Launched by Paula Estey, Eddie Carson, and Amanda Bradbury

Paula Estey, Executive Director of the PEG Center for Art and Activism, and Eddie Carson, Dean of Multicultural Education at Governor’s Academy will visit this week to discuss an anti-racism series they’re launching in March, along with Amanda Bradbury of the YWCA’s Racial Justice Initiatives.

I’ll speak with Paula and Eddie about the months-long series that will include a kick off lecture, community conversations, and follow up proactive measures.

Paula and Eddie will discuss their multiple goals for the series: expanding the community’s awareness of systemic biases; fostering the pursuit of equity and diversity; and bolstering a commitment to be “not just non-racists but actively anti-racists as a whole community.”
Eddie will discuss his March 5th kick off talk and Q&A, “Being Black in White Spaces: A Brave Talk for Racial Justice,” scheduled from 6:30 – 7:45 PM at FRS Unitarian Universalist Church on Pleasant Street.

Eddie and Paula will also describe three Community Conversations that will follow at the PEG Center on Harris Street, all at 6:30 PM. The first topic on March 21st will be: “What We Don’t Know”; followed on April 18th by “Colors Like Me: Family Conversations”; and the Grand Finale on May 16th focusing on “Committing to Change: Becoming Anti-Racist Together.”
