This Week’s “Morning Show” Features:

The Grey Muzzle Organization:

Advocates for Senior Dogs

I have a soft spot for older dogs. Something about them melts my heart. If you’ve ever been lucky enough to share life with one, you’ll understand why these “grey muzzles” lead you to slow down and live more mindfully and savor every passing moment with them. So I’m pleased this week to welcome Lisa Lunghofer, Executive Director of the Grey Muzzle Organization (GMO), to discuss the nationwide non-profit’s advocacy for the well-being of Senior Dogs.

I’ll talk with Lisa about GMO’s vision of a world where “every senior dog thrives and no old dog dies alone and afraid.”
Lisa will talk about the special vulnerabilities of senior dogs, including their lower adoption rates when they wind up in shelters. Only 50% of available older dogs find new homes. She will also convey the distinctive joy and benefits of sharing life with a seasoned, calm, and sweet “grey muzzle.”

She will also provide examples of how GMO provides funding and resources to animal shelters, rescue organizations, and other non-profits nationally, including support for dental and health care and, when needed, hospice care so that senior dogs receive love and support until their final breath.
