THE REGENERATIVE SCHOOL Seeks new home base for an “EcoCampus” while
locally collaborating to kick off Fall Events in the Seacoast
Amesbury, MA – September 29, 2023
Rē: The Regenerative School (Rē) announces its relocation to New England. Rē has taken to
partnering with local organizations to host retreats, fundraisers, and community activities as they
seek space in the greater Amesbury, MA area. Their vision and plan is to find land to develop into a
cooperative initiative or “ecocampus” using regenerative practices and integrating both nature into
the surrounding community and the community into the surrounding ecosystem.
Rē is planting seeds to take root in the Seacoast area. Since its inception in 2018, Rē has successfully
collaborated, influenced, and created positive community change. Initially growing its roots in rural
southern Tennessee, Rē started by creating a small, vibrant downtown community center and
garden. Rē grew to include bustling local food production and retreat activities on a satellite farm
location for additional local food access and community support activities. With Rē’s move to the
Northeast (where Founder and Director, Ashlei Laing, grew up), Rē is looking to replicate and
expand upon this framework.
Today, Rē is working on several initiatives. This last month, Rē kicked off the RēInvest Campaign to
help organize and found an Amesbury area community garden, planted in memory of G. Scott
Laing, the director’s late father. In the past, Rē’s gardens and partner farm in TN gave back to the
community in bounties with over 500 pounds of fresh food in 2022 alone. Rē strives to expand its
reach here with the larger community and surrounding region. “My father (G. Scott Laing) was a
cherished figure in both the New Hampshire and Massachusetts Seacoast communities, renowned
for his bountiful vegetable gardens” says Laing. “Rē’s aspiration is to create a garden akin to his,
providing our community with free, fresh, and chemical-free produce as a way to give back to the
community and serve as a meaningful meeting place for future cross-cultural conversations and
innovative learning.” This garden would be the first phase in Rē’s “ecocampus” vision.
In October, Rē is hosting a fall restorative day retreat among the reclaimed forests and wildlife
habitats of Alnoba, in Kensington, NH. The “RēBalance” retreat promises to be a fresh experience
for all those interested in soulful nourishment, Ayurveda, self-care, indigenous knowledge of healing,
and seasonal resets. The day will be led in collaboration with certified Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor,
Thana Numan of Nourishing Wellness, Kristine Marie Hill of Collective Wisdoms, and Rev. Sara
Jolena Wolcott of Sequoia Samanvaya. For those interested in grounding in nature, deep community
and ancient living wisdom, this is sure to be an incredible event.
In November, Rē is planning a fall Farm to Table Dinner to celebrate the harvest season and closure
of the ReInvest Campaign at the Bradstreet Farm in Rowley, MA. The five course meal will be
locally sourced from the surrounding land and dishes will be carefully crafted by Chef Ryan
Woodland of Merrimac, MA. The event will additionally feature selections of Mill River Wine from
grapes grown just steps outside the barn and craft beer brewed down the street at Anonymous
Brewery. Rē is looking forward to sharing this local harvest dining adventure and savoring local
seasonal flavors with new friends!
Rē is calling on the local community to join in the conversation for an imperative paradigm shift
toward a more just society based on regeneration. Come support by donating, participating, and/or
celebrating with us!
