Trish Moore and Wendy Roworth, Co-presidents of The Women’s Fund of Essex County will visit this week to talk about the important and impactful work they do to better the lives of women and girls.
The Women’s Fund was founded 20 years ago by a group of women meeting together to ask themselves, “What can we do?” Upon finding out that fewer than 2% of all philanthropic funds went to organizations that serve women and girls, they set out to change that eye opening statistic.
The Fund focuses on areas such as economic self-sufficiency, leadership, empowerment, and mental health.
The Fund was and currently still is made up exclusively of volunteers.
Moore and Roworth will discuss how they became engaged with the Fund, the positive impacts they’ve seen its grants having on recipients’ lives, and some of the organizations and projects the Fund has supported in Greater Newburyport, including the Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, Anna Jaques Hospital, Our Neighbors Table, and the YWCA.
