March 6, 2023Press Release
March 6, 2023
WHAT: Painter’s Palette: A History of Color
WHERE: Virtual, Newburyport Public Library.
WHEN: Tuesday, March 14th 2023 at 7:00 pm.
Virtual registration is required. We may take for granted the use of color in art, but historically,
much thought, effort and expense has gone into that choice. Drawing on the work of many authors,
Mary C. Woodward will explore the world of colors and learn how certain colors were discovered,
created and exploited. We will spin the color wheel and explore each of the seven colors of the
spectrum. As we go, we will be introduced to some new pigments and dyes less familiar perhaps,
such a gamboge, smalt and mummy brown! It’s a trip through time and around the world! This is
a virtual event.
Virtual registration is required. This event is intended for adults. Register on our website or
by calling 978-465-4428. If you sign up and cannot make it, please call the library at 978-465-
4428 to cancel.
