Registration is required. Join the Newburyport Public Library and Tom Toohey to learn about
tracing genealogy back before the 1800s! Tom Toohey is a modern day Irish storyteller who has
traveled to Ireland 20 times and collected hundreds of stories. In the last few years Tom has
recorded his family stories in a six volume book called Images of Other Lives. This presentation
offers sources and a method for doing more extensive search. It has two parts. The first part is
about the 17th Century Irish genealogist, Duald MacFirbis, the author of The Great Book of Irish
Genealogies. The second part is a case study of one ancient Irish name.
