Local Author Publishes Debut Novel

After a lifetime of browsing the aisles of local bookstores, Greater Newburyport author Rob O’Keefe can now count his book among those available to the public. Released this past summer, Small Stories: A Perfectly Absurd Novel, is a quirky tale of life, power, and politics in a very unusual small town. As you might imagine just from the title alone, the book has a distinct comic tone.

As an independent author, Rob has been able to distribute his novel through all the major online retailers, but his greatest sense of achievement came when Sue Little, owner of Jabberwocky Bookshop, agreed to carry his book.

“Jabberwocky offers high quality titles and is very supportive of local authors, so I’m thrilled to have my work available at this store. There’s something about being able to see a tangible product on the shelf that just can’t be replicated by technology.”

The distribution work isn’t complete, however. While Jabberwocky Bookshop was the first to agree to carry his novel, other independent bookstores on the North Shore have also expressed interest. As he continues his outreach, Rob is working on a sequel to his book which he hopes to have completed by the end of next year.
