Two programs at Newburyport Public Library next week!
June 9, 2022TUESDAY, JUNE 14 at 7:00 PM. Abigail Adams: America’s First, Second Lady (IN PERSON)
Join us for this one woman play as Sheryl Faye portrays Abigail Adams (1744-1818). This story starts off with Abigail as an adult and goes back through her childhood and then back to an adult again. The show is appropriate for all ages. Sheryl has a BFA in Acting from Emerson College and performs eleven one woman plays that tour to different schools for enrichment programs, libraries, and senior centers throughout New England. This program is funded by your donations to the Friends of the Newburyport Public Library.
THURSDAY, JUNE 16 at 7:00 PM. Heroes and Homecomings: Norman Rockwell and World War II (VIRTUAL)
Norman Rockwell, America’s most beloved illustrator, created dozens of images related to the second World War. What happens when an artist known for his use of humor tackles the serious subject of war? This program explores how his work departs from earlier artistic interpretations of American conflicts and considers how and why he chose specific wartime themes to present to the millions of readers of the Saturday Evening Post. Jane Oneail is the founder of Culturally Curious, an arts education consulting firm specializing in art appreciation programs. She curates and delivers programs throughout New England and beyond. She holds a master’s in Art History from Boston University and a master’s in Education from Harvard University.
Registration is required for both of these programs. Register online at https://www.newburyportpl.org/ call the library at 978-465-4428 x242.
