NCM Hub’s 3rd Annual Independence Celebration
What does Freedom mean to you?
NEWBURYPORT – The Greater Newburyport Community Media Hub, located at 331 High St, Suite #2, will hold our 3rd Annual Independence Celebration on Sunday, July 21st from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. At 11:00 A.M. NCM Hub opens its doors to local nonprofit organizations for one hour to record radio promos for their nonprofits. Organizations can contact NCM Hub prior to the event for a pre-reserved timeslot. The Celebration will then open to the public at 12 P.M., there will be refreshments available and a tour of NCM Hub’s location, followed by a brief interview from guest speaker, James Sullivan, the author of “Which Side Are You On” a book of protest songs. James will be answering questions from 12:30 to 1:15. The event will proceed with a variety of creative and interactive activities to engage in the event’s theme of What Does Freedom Mean to You?
There will be stations for hand-writing letters, learning about fake news, exploring the history of Yankee Homecoming, constitution trivia, creating a podcast, photo-booth, and FREE T-shirts decorating. There will also be a pre-recorded radio broadcast of the Morning Show on WJOP’s station 96.3, focused on “Plum Island: Then & Now” — hosted by Mary Jacobsen at 2:00. The interview will feature Lee Grover and Marcia Conti (cousins) about their childhood summers spent on the southwestern tip of Plum Island, before the land was obtained by the state government to form Sandy Point State Beach.
NCM Hub’s Independence Celebration unfolds in the name of public discourse, and in celebration of our constitutional freedom of speech. NCM Hub invites people of all walks of life to join in and explore all that this non-profit organization has to offer.
