Please join us at the Newburyport Public Library on Saturday, March 9th at 3:00 pm for a poetry reading by the Powow River Poets. This month, the poets reading are George Kalogeris and Jay Wickersham. Arrive early to sign up for the open mic!
George Kalogeris is the author of a book of paired poems in translation, Dialogos, and of a book of poems based on the notebooks of Albert Camus, Camus: Carnets. His book of poems, Guide to Greece, comes out in 2019. He teaches English Literature and Classics in Translation at Suffolk University.
Jay Wickersham’s poems and essays have appeared in The Formalist, the Harvard Review, and Yankee. He studied with Seamus Heaney at Harvard and has been a finalist for the Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award. Jay lives in Cambridge, MA, where he practices environmental and architectural law.
The Powow River Poets, based in Newburyport, Massachusetts, are active promoters of poetry in New England. Readings are accessible and open to the public.
